Conservatives Love To Hate Eachother

The Republican party is an incredibly divided one. Few Republicans seem to agree on anything. And they certainly don’t get along with each other.

Worst of all are the conservative commentators that attack their fellow conservatives. Take, for example, Ann Coulter. She was recently talking about her hatred for presidential candidate Carly Fiorina because Ms. Fiorina supports birthright citizenship.

“And this is why I’ve said I now hate Carly Fiorina with a hot hot hate of 1,000 suns.”

Not only is Coulter wrong for hating Fiorina over such a stupid thing, but Coulter is advocating for a progressive cause by doing so. Amending the Constitution to keep illegal immigrant’s children from becoming American citizens is a pretty non-conservative thing to do.

Even if Coulter isn’t advocating for a constitutional amendment, any action to subvert the Constitution is unpatriotic and definitely not a conservative move.

Ann Coulter also called Bill O’Reilly stupid for not agreeing with her idea of what the 14th Amendment is.

I’m not sure if Coulter is unable to read, but the 14th Amendment is pretty clear. Here’s the first sentence of section 1 of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.

Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.”

What’s really strange is that Coulter would no doubt flip her shit if Democrats wanted to mess with the second or first Amendments. Why is it okay, or conservative to change the 14th Amendment?

Ann has been defending Donald Trump from other conservatives, like O’Reilly, who don’t agree with him. Many conservatives have called out Trump for being a fake conservative and simply trying to disrupt the 2016 election. Regardless, Trump’s proposed immigration policy–which includes amending the Constitution–is clearly not a conservative one.

The problem of conservative-on-conservative hate extends far beyond Ms. Coulter. And this is not a new issue. Whether someone isn’t conservative enough, or is too conservative, there’s always Republicans ready to attack them. It’s ridiculous and it’s counterproductive.

Erick Erickson, another conservative commentator, disinvited Donald Trump from the RedState gathering. That is simply a childish move. The top polling Republican candidate makes a comment about one of your colleagues and you uninvite him? That’s simply stupid to do after he and his campaign clarified his comment.

This trend of hatred and attacks inside the GOP is doing anything but helping the party. Until the GOP can get at least a shred of unity, it will always suffer from its members refusing to work together.
