#GoldenShowerGate: 5 Allegations BuzzFeed Article Made Against Donald Trump

If you haven’t heard, BuzzFeed–the site known for quizzes with names like ‘We Know How Many Kids You’ll Have Based On Your Food Choices’–released a dossier yesterday alleging some pretty crazy things about Donald Trump.

The report is unsubstantiated thus far, though that hasn’t stopped it from gaining an enormous amount of momentum. Donald Trump launched a Tweetstorm yesterday to defend himself which included gems like this:

Some of the major political media outlets (The Hill, CNN, Fox) have started to pick up on the story and have it on their respective front pages. This prompted #GoldenShowerGate to start trending on social media.

What was Donald Trump accused of doing?

1: Hosting a golden shower with prostitutes in a Russian hotel where Barack Obama stayed

Apparently Donald Trump knew that Barack Obama and Michelle Obama had stayed at the Presidential suite at the Ritz Carlton in Moscow.

Trump went to Moscow, rented the same room Obama had stayed in, and employed ‘a number’ (the report doesn’t specify the number) of prostitutes to perform a golden shower on the bed where Michelle and Barack had slept.

The report doesn’t go into detail as to whether he engaged in sexual acts with the prostitutes, although if this is true I’m not sure that it matters.

2: Getting offered real estate deals from Russia tied to the 2018 Fifa World Cup

The report also claimed that Trump had been offered numerous ‘lucrative’ real estate deals in Russia.

They would somehow be tied to the 2018 Fifa World Cup, which is set to be hosted in various cities across the Russia.

It specified, however, that Trump didn’t take advantage of any of these offers. It didn’t say why he declined them, stating that it was ‘for reasons unknown’.

3: Providing information to Russia from moles and hackers

An ‘exchange of information was established both directions’ claimed the report. It suggested that Donald Trump not only had hackers, but also ‘moles’ inside the Democratic National Convention.

This was to provide Putin with information, which he desired because of a ‘fear and hatred of Hillary Clinton’. It also said that Trump had hackers in Russia, but didn’t specify what they were used for.

Trump also allegedly provided Russia with information regarding Russian oligarchs in the United States.

4: Russia sent Donald Trump information about Hillary Clinton and other political opponents

‘Valuable intelligence’ had been provided to Trump about Hillary Clinton based on the report. It went on to say that this is something that had been happening ‘for several years’.

5: Trump has corrupt business ties in China and other emerging markets

The report stated that Donald Trump was more than happy to let Russia be the ‘bogeyman’ in the media in the run up to his campaign. This was all to distract members of the media from the fact that he has ‘extensive corrupt business ties in China and other emerging countries’. These corrupt ties apparently included many ‘bribes’ and ‘kickbacks’, which would be damning for his campaign.

Conclusion

The report is unsubstantiated, and even has some errors in it which BuzzFeed pointed out at the time of publishing. That hasn’t stopped it from gaining mass media attention and becoming widely discussed across the internet.

Trump’s people will likely start trying to prove these claims wrong while the rest of the media starts looking for proof. If updates come on this story that lend legitimacy to these claims, things could get bad for Donald Trump very quickly.
